0.33w vs 0.5w resistors

Assuming that whatever I have running on a circuit is below the wattage of the resistor, is there any drawback / benefit of using a 0.5w resistor instead of a 0.33w resistor ?

I have found a load of 0.5w resistors and would prefer to use them instead of buying others if I can.

No just use what is easier to get.

Thanks Grumpy_Mike.

Wasn't sure if there was a down-side to using a higher rated component.

some are wire wound
watch out for stray inductance
especially if you're using it as current sensor for a stepper driver, for example

Usually the only downside to a higher rated component is cost. The performance is usually equivalent or better (for passive components at least).

higher power rating often means bigger size. Assuming you don't have a problem with space, it should be fine.
