Good afternoon, I know it has nothing to do, but just in case, i had the same issue, no matter what i do, but I use arduino Mega 2560, for that you need to put a 10k resistor for each digital pin, even after that it would refuse to work, with the Adafruit library, i had to use one called ucglib, and im still figuring out why.
