1 way movement gear mechanism

Hello.
I 3D printed an exoglove made by Nick Iacobbo which can be found here. He made a good prototype and I want to work on top of it. The idea is to have some mechanism that will give haptic feedback to the user. He should be able to move his hand freely. When he grabs something virtually he should be unable to move his hand in the direction of the grabbed object. For that Im planning to make a gear contraption and some kind of stopper that can move up or down to allow or stop motion in just the direction of the grabbed item.
It should still allow for movement in the opposite direction.Im planning to make a servo move the stopper up or down with this mechanism I made a quick sketch on the idea im presenting. Do you have any ideas on how to make this with something stronger than gears and how to make it go up and down faster than with servo. Also I would ideally want to minimize the friction. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
