I tried your suggestions, (even downloaded ide 1.6.1 to try it) but the results are exactly the same... Furthermore I can t control a led with the other librares i found, I can t seem to access the PWM of the Led, it s not clear which function to use.. (i miss the simple analogWrite command

I m starting to think that it was not such a good idea to buy this board.
maybe if I could change the prescaler here, so that I have the desired frequency (100-1000 hz) it would do the job for me. (even though I have read forums and the datasheet and tried to change it myself, I am still missing something, some help here would be really appreciated! )
