Hi,
I was trying to troubleshoot turning on and off two solenoids.
I was using a switch to turn the solenoids on and off.
I had been running the solenoids at 12 V and the Arduino at input of 5 V, per suggestion from someone.
Here is a schematic of just the switch(where I think things went wrong.
Typically I have the voltage set to 5 Volt for the Arduino but I very stupidly forgot to change the voltage to 5 again when I tested it. However, I hooked it into 12 Volts and my computer, which was connected to the Arduino Uno via USB, promptly shut off. My computer is fine but my Arduino isn't turning on and isn't being recognized by the computer.
The USB is fine(I tested it). Arduino doesn't smell or look burnt but like I said, it isn't turning on with the computer
I saw on the Arduino Uno page that the Arduino Uno can have input voltage between 7 and 12 Volts. Mine may have been running at 12.07-12.12 Volts.
Could this cause my Arduino to fry?
