12V 10A PSU, these are dangerous...right?

I was browsing eBay and saw these 12V power supplies with 2.1mm barrel connectors, which supports up to 10A of current. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-100V-240V-to-DC-12V-1A-2A-3A-5A-6A-8A-10A-Power-Supply-Adapter-transformer-/201539355844?var=&hash=item2eecae84c4:m:mtl22u9oC1ikjKyVXqoxcFA. These can't be safe, am I right? I don't think the wire gauge itself may be able to support that amount of current, but I am pretty sure those 2.1mm connectors aren't made for it. It seems like a potential fire hazard. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

From what I recall, barrel connectors are rated for 1 or 2 amps.

...But I think my laptop power supply is rated at ~4 Amps.

2.1 x 5.5mm connectors are available rated for up to 8A at least. 5A is common. So yeah, I'd be a little uncomfortable putting 10A through a single barrel jack....

If it’s unsafe to draw 10A through a barrel connection the device the draws 10A through a barrel connection is unsafe in the first place.

Highest rated I see at Digikey is 8A.

What are you powering? Does it draw 10 amps?

Thanks for the tips. I use these connectors quite often, and never felt comfortable passing anything above 5A through, as the connectors(that I use) do feel a tad warm above that.

Good observation. What happens is a 2.1mm splitter can be used on such "higher amp" power supplies, to output to multiple devices at the same time.

That splitter is a possible weak point in a high amp situation.
