12v 400mA power supply for arduino UNO

Hi, I was wondering whether a 12v 400mA power supply for the Arduino would work.

I am totally new to Arduino.

If it is a DC power supply and regulated to 12V, it might work.
However if the Arduino has a number of leds to drive, the voltage regulator might get hot.

Be careful, some cheap wall warts that are labelled "12V" can supply a lot more, like 18V.
