Just wire it to a mating plug for the external power connector on the board. 14v will cause the on-board +5vdc regulator to run hotter then if you used 7-10vdc, but it will work. I powered my board with a +15vdc laptop power pak for many months without problems.

You could add a step down regulator also, http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/2102 get longer life out of your battery and let your arduino board run cooler. Step it down to 5V and run it into the +5v pin.
