1Duino from swie.io - What can I use it for?

Looks like there's a little T85 chip in it, what can I use it for, and how would I program it?

Seems like I can connect it to my PC.

I was thinking about creating an authenticator for my PC, so when I connect it, it would automatically run a simple program that would spit out some inputs.

Thanks a lot!

It's an ATTiny85, with the USB interface (USB on the t85 is not-quite-standards-compliant, as the t85 doesn't have the hardware for that - the library is called vusb). I can't find anything about what core you're supposed to use with it though - it's gotta have a special core if you want to use the USB functionality and not just program it with an external ISP programmer. But I can't see any information on where to get that on their website. It may be a clone of one of the other boards with a tiny85 and a vusb-based bootloader?

There seems to be a dearth of documentation on it - maybe there's someplace else to look for documentation?

I strongly dislike that swie.io website. I went there and got depressed just trying to navigate and look it over. I stayed on it long enough to discover that this is practically the same as a Digispark or a Trinket. So you can (or should be able to):

  • program it as a plain tiny85 on a breakout board with the core from DrAzzy (see DrAzzy's signature block) by using a ISP programmer or a working Arduino as ISP, or
  • put the Trinket bootloader on it and program it via USB like a Trinket, or
  • put the Micronucleus bootloader on it and program it via USB like a Digispark.

It may or may not have the reset disabled. If you find you can't use ISP to program it or put a bootloader on it or to read or set the fuses, it may have the RSTDISBL fuse programmed.

Let us know how it works out for you.

It may also be pre-loaded with one of those bootloaders... (I suspect it is)

Hey guys,

Thanks a lot for your interest in the 1duino and for taking the time to browse our website. 1duino is an open source hardware keychain, that has the Micronucleus v2.02 preloaded onto it. It also has 2 LEDs so you can use the Arduino environment and play a bit with it.

We would like to also apologize to all of you and especially to @dmjlambert for the fact that we currently don't have all the necessary info on our website. We are putting a lot of effort into providing the maker community a low-volume manufacturing solution for their customized boards. In addition, in January we will release a "non-depressable" version of our website that will feature an Open Source Hardware platform.

By the way, if anybody wants a couple of those keychains to play around with them, just shoot me a message and we will send you some.

We thank you again for your interest and we hope you will enjoy the 1duino.

Best,
the Swie team

I've got the samples, thanks a lot!

The "micronucleus" (digispark) workes great @ 16.5MHz setting, so programming is easy.
I'll (my students) will use it for projects where the small size is important.

today (13 feb.16) we 'killed' one, Hope I can revive it. Hints are welcome..
