Having issues with 2.1.0 and non Arduino board compatibility.
Problems so far encountered-
•Sparkfun Attiny 85 programmer
•Esp8266
•NODEMCU ESP 8266.
Any help to make these boards compatible would be appreciated.
Cheers

I moved your post in a more appropriate category
You should probably describe what is exactly the issue / what happens or does not happen
Ok, my code to NODEMCU 8266 was able to be loaded in the morning, in the afternoon it would not load, saying the port was unavailable.
I reinstalled the driver, then went to reinstall ESP 8266 community board manager files after uninstalling it. That was unsuccessful as it appears it is no longer supported due to an error.
Same issue with the Sparkfun Attiny 85 programmer. It appears it is no longer supported as no port showing now when I plug in the USB and fails to upload.
Both boards work fine in 1.8.9 IDE.
@bhillster if you want help, you really need to start making more of an effort. You need to understand that we are not psychic. The only things we know about your problem and your system are what you tell us. So if the things you tell us are vague and incomplete, how are we to be expected to provide you with any kind of useful assistance.
I guess you think you are saving time with this approach, but I can assure you that is not the case. The users who provide us with all the information we need from the start often receive a solution within a matter of minutes. The ones who don't often must wait days or weeks for all the back and forth that is needed to squeeze the necessary information out of them.
Please provide a detailed description of what you were doing when you encountered this problem.
Please provide a detailed description of what exactly is "saying the port was unavailable".
Please provide the full and exact text of any error or warning messages you are encountering.
Please provide a detailed description of exactly what you did to reinstall the "ESP 8266 community board manager files".
Please provide a detailed description of what you mean by "unsuccessful".
Please provide the full and exact text of any error or warning messages you are encountering.
Please provide a link to where you purchased this programmer so we can get information about the hardware.
Please provide a detailed description of the exact procedure you performed to make the upload.
Please provide the full and exact text of any error or warning messages you are encountering.
Saving time?
I think not. ptillisch I think that’s a bit rude.
Thank you for taking the time to try to understand my problem, it is extremely frustrating when developers change stuff in the background which causes bugs elsewhere.
Since I posted the original post I am now able to install the board manager V 3.1.2 of esp8266 by ESP8266 Community.
It was V 3.1.1 that had the issue.
Ports are now available.
However now I am not able to upload code with the error-
A fatal esptools.py error occurred: Cannot configure port, something went wrong. Original message: PermissionError(13, ‘A device attached to the system is not functioning.’, None, 31)esptool.py v3.0
Serial port COM4
Is that enough information for you to work with? |
