So I got my TFT to work using a library from samuraijap found on this thread. The post was #55. All the test programs ran beautifully. However, since this is for an alarm clock I wanted to have buttons such as snooze and dismiss. How can I implement this?
Why dont you make a prototype with breadboards and push buttons first? Then you can implement it on PCB. 
I have a prototype of the alarm clock with an LCD but I wanted to get the tft working. To at least display buttons and the time.
