2 IDEs

I installed the latest 1.8.6 Arduino IDE. Previously I had 1.6.x installed. I did a de-install of the 1.6.x version but I think that might have been AFTER I installed the 1.8.6. When I click on the Arduino icon I get the 1.8.6 version, but when I click on an *.ino file (to open Arduino from a file instead), I get the 1.6.x version which is not as nice a GUI as the 1.8.6 version.

Confusing?

Recap: I have/want 1.8.6, the latest version, but when I click on an *.ino file I get the old version. How can I clean this up?

I went to Windows (10 x64) "Open with" and selected my 1.8.6 executable but the program STILL opens with the old version. There must be a registry tweak I can change to make this work.

If you're still able to use the 1.6.x version then it must not have uninstalled. But yeah, that's annoying. The association somehow gets stuck with the version you installed (the "Windows Installer" download) but then if you want to have multiple other IDE versions installed you need to use the "Windows ZIP file for non admin install" instead.

By 1.8.6 do you mean you're using the hourly build (the latest release is 1.8.5)?
