Hi, i apologise if this question has already been asked but if it has i am not aware of it, but, using 74hc595's I want to hook up 2 or 3 8x8 matrixes to get a scrolling message sign. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction?

Thanks, i am pretty new to these and am having a diffucult time trying to teach myself how to program this stuff, i eventually would like it to scroll "MERRY CHRISTMAS" first in red then green and repeat, by the way i am using a Duemilanove for this.

Yes that's almost perfect, it has almost everything i'm looking for, thanks. I have enclosed a link to the code and was wondering how i would get it to first display a message in red and then repeat the message in green.
Although I can't build this today (waiting for some breadboards to arrive from China), I am doing everything I can to prepare for their arrival.
