24V power to 0-10v input

Did anyone hookup a potentiometer to the machine control yet?

I don't understand why the 24v output is in the 0-10v input

Currently i have it hooked up with resistors
1k beween 24v en the potentiometer and 1k bridge between ground and signal
100% potentiometer would give around 12V

This works for my temporary hookup but im looking for better ideas
