2nd Computer, Prob Installing Drivers

I’ve experienced ‘ this ‘ problem on numerous types of ‘ Arduino ‘ boards, or clones.
When the board is new and has never been used, the computer sees it sitting in bootloader state and loads drivers. Great !

But once the board has been used ( sketch uploaded ) then it no longer stays in bootloader long enough for a 2nd computer to ID it and load drivers. Darn !
( But it still works fine with the first computer that has drivers. )

Is there something I can do when needing to load drivers onto a 2nd computer, but I don’t have an unused board ?

To date I’ve been keeping a unused board for this purpose.
Thank you

What Board ?
What OS ?

Bob.

The drivers should be installed automatically regardless of whether the chip has a sketch loaded.

Is this a clone board? Some of those require drivers to be manually installed (in some cases only on some OS versions), or you may have installed them long ago and forgotten (most of the clones of classic boards use the same ch340g serial interface, so you could have installed drivers once for a different board)
