Hi,
Looking at the 3.3 Volt LDO's available most require low ESR capacitors with some specifically stating Tantalum caps are required.
Can anyone recommend a part that can be used with more generic capacitors ? or an alternative approach to getting a 3.3 supply on standalone boards with a 5 volt supply ?
try looking for this one: TS1084 I got it either from farnel or RS-comp. I used it with a project and it performed nice. Be careful with the pin mapping, it's not like I expected, and I had to redo the PCB. other than that, I used generic capacitors (have no idea what type they were).
The TS1084 part looks great however I can only order then in packs of 20 which I could live with in the UK, but by the time they are shipped to and marked up by the UAE Reseller its way too expensive for the single peice than I need.
Anyone suggest another part - 3.3 volt output and designed for use with generic capacitors ? A search of rs-online returns 900 results thats a lot of datasheets to dig through.
Its low cost and tolerant in terms of capacitor types. Its only good for 250ma, but I am only using it to power a gyro and provide a reference voltage, the gyro spec indicates a current draw of less than 10ma.
