3.3v 8MHz pro mini and 3.7v lipo battery

Hi,

Just wanted to check before laying out yet more money.

Does anyone see any problem with powering the mini and several 74HC595 chips all off the same
3.7v ( could be as high as 4.2 I believe) from a LiPo battery

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there is no maximum Vcc, or at least it would be a lot higher - just a minimum based on the
clock frequency . I would be drawing very little current from the arduino , but about 50 mA average, 100mA max
through the 74HC595s, direct from the battery.

I plan to bypass each 74HC595 with 100 nF ceramic.

Thanks

Rob

There will be no problem doing that, other than brightness changing as battery voltage decreases from 4.2V to 3.7V and whatever you let it get down to.

There IS a maximum - 6V - but the LiPo won't exceed that.
For 8 MHz, there is a minimum, ~2.5V, but you'll not let the LiPo discharge that much, correct?

Thanks, that's good to know. Now I can spend a fortune on a charger.
