Does anyone know of a good SMT buzzer that is decently loud around 4KHz with a voltage of 3.3V? I purchased one off digi-key(102-1264-1-ND) and it is very quiet. I really like the foot print it just don't get the job done. I"m using it with a Lipo battery, an Arduino Pro 3.3V, and a simple NPN to turn it on and off.
If really loud is what you are after you are going to need to drive the piezo yourself with a driver incorporating an inductor in its output. Piezo elements are high impedance and require reasonable drive voltages to sound loudly. Virtually all wristwatches drive their piezo elements via a high inductance choke as the driver load.
not looking for really loud. Just looking to be able to hear it in a normal room say with the TV on. much like a wrist watch alarm. I have the buzzer right now on the collector side of the NPN transistor and the other leadoff the buzzer going to 3.3V and that is it. Any examples of a decent buzzer circuit for a 3.3v circuit? I don't have much experience with piezo or buzzers in general but i'm always willing to learn something new.
