Hi friends. I am trying to make a basic version of this http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/bs2deqm7-4g/maxresdefault.jpg for the kids.
I did the sound, light and hoop sensor parts but i don't know how to add these displays.
How can i use external power source and is there any other components to use with 7 segments.
I need to use 6 displays.

Those are "Common Anode".
Find "Common Cathode" and add MAX7219 to control them.
Must be Common Cathode.
@CrossRoads I have bought them already. I have 10x of them 
Ok, then get a bunch of shift registers, 1 per digit, & current limit resistors, 7 or 8 per digit.
TPIC6B595 are REQUIRED due to 11-12V source voltage needed to drive these.
