3D connexion replica with Arduino Micro

Hello.
This line of products is a little bit too costly and it is economically justified to build it DIY based on Arduino if you know how to.

http://www.3dconnexion.com/products/spacemouse.html

Does this device use a fimiliar set of mouse and keyboard command combinations to manipulate an object in 3D or does it use its own special protocol?

I am interested in this quite a lot.

I can see how all the degrees of freedom

can be achieved by a modified joystick

With a little modification to the Chinese joystick part that can be designed and printed on a 3D printer, it can be able to represent 2 more degrees of motion.

Another option is magnets and hall sensors.

Maybe this all can lead to a consumer 3D mouse for designers that is less than $25.

I will wait to do a kickstarter for this because I am already paid to work on another similar project.
Similar in that it is a computer input device. However I take this idea very seriously.
In fact I have a design that is far better than the original 3D connexion in my notebooks.

This is old one

Im very interested in this idea and im going to explore it.

Is there a chance you know if spacemouse use a familiar set of mouse and keyboard command combinations to manipulate an object in 3D or does it use its own special protocol?

Thank for your sharing !

ANy further notice?

I have ordered those** rotary encoders with hollow interior and I am planing on making a base ofr them that can sit on the joystick of the original post (without all the handle) so maybe I can achieve something similar to 3d spacemouse. Still gotta get my hands on the parts and figure oout if it suitable or not.
