3D Printed, Fully-Functional Desktop Underground Mine

I finally finished what might be one of the most useless projects in history: A fully functional 3D printed desktop underground mine. The upshot was I learned a lot about 3D design, 3D printing, electronics, programming, and constructing models.

You can watch a video about the project here: Desktop Mine

The electronics got pretty complicated (at least for me as a rookie), as the project used 4 stepper motors along with various servos, LEDs, a motion detector and a buzzer, requiring lots of programming to get everything to move at the right time. All that’s documented in the video.

All elements that would be “man-made” in real life were printed on a Prusa MK2S printer, along with the electrical boxes, cabinet feet, and various cabinet components. Everything else was make of foam, wood, plexiglass, etc.

Enjoy.

Pretty impressive job! well done,

Thanks for sharing,
