4 digit 7 segment display seconds to minutes countdown

HI,

I'm totally new to arduino programing.
my idea is already working good with no errors, but i want to improve.

the idea is a bomb, when reaches 00:00 "explodes"
i can set a value "start_num" in seconds.

the problem is:
start_num = 300 //300 seconds = 5 minutes

in my display shows 299.... 298...297....296 and so on...
i really want to show is 4:59....4:58....4:57 like a real clock, not only show in seconds.
(at this time, dont worry about the dots ":", i can solve this later)

I'm a airsoft player trying to make new ways to play the game with my team.

besides... if i rly want to explode someting, why i would care about the timer?
