4 digit 7 Segment display with Arduino with Maxim7221

Humm one could use a 46” tv as a VGA monitor and forget all about this 7 segment stuff.

I understand. However I remember my own topics, asking for help and I, sometimes, was flooded with suggestions. Those times it was too much. I had no power, no time, to evaluate "all other new suggestions".

Of cource, regarding the large amount of info being displayed, Your approach is really more handy.

Are you really expecting me to search for that information and/or test it in reality?

You can make a chain of 40 max7221 work on any Arduino,
it could be necessary to add some minor additional buffers/drivers.

You could buy 40 modules like these 10 modules.

and perform real tests.

The above is only an example, there are cheaper modules on aliexpress.

No I cannot used that one... because of two reasons.

  1. Max intergrated display not available in 1" size.
  2. I want to display 4 digit for each teacher....

Start testing by using 2 MAX and LEDs and get hold of things. Then expand.
Once again, check what characters, and how, the MAX needs to be accessed.

I will move step by step.., also will make a single PCB for 2 line items (i.e. 2Teachers or 8 Digits) so I can easily extend and replace....

For the test and the software development, the size and the orientation do not matter.

I understand that you should produce pcbs
with the correct sized leds and the correct orientation/spacing/you name it.

Even with the low priced pcbs I would try the concept first with bought pcbs,
the the wrong size and orientation does not matter for that purpose.
