5 minutes between posts

I got the next error when I was answering some questions on this forum:

The message has the following error or errors that must be corrected before continuing:
You have exceeded the number of posts you can make in a 5 minutes period. Please try again later.

I don't see the need of this 5 minutes period.

But then, you're not a moderator.
Nor, it appears, someone who has searched this section of the forum.

The 5 minute interval is there to obstruct spammers. It goes away after you have made 100 Posts. I agree that it is a PITA.

100 posts ???

Having to wait 5mins to edit a post or add an attachment link to an uploaded image (because you can't add the link at the time you compose a message) is a PITA.

I want to be an active member of the electronics community and follow all the rules before posting (generally!). I have been in the IT game for years and have never once been a member of a forum with a limitation such as 100 posts to be considered a member of a community.

You are a member of the community from the point of registration.

I'd be in favour of a relaxation of the post editing limit, and even an halving of the number of posts needed before throttling is removed.

However, throttling is an essential measure to avoid some of the drive-by spammings we've suffered in the past.

Well I suppose I'll just have to keep posting

So now posts are being deleted ? I'll remove my account and go elsewhere.

If your posts had added anything to the discussion, and not simply to your post count, they would still be here.

Be careful of the door on your way out.

I'll remove my account

You'll have to ask a moderator or admin to do that.

Rather than make useless posts you could browse the Forum to see if there are questions where you could assist other people.
