Hello,
I ripped apart a toy RC car to remove the old controller and use the arduino, since I don't have a radio controller available. I did this once before to another RC car and both motors had 2 wires, but the motors that came out of this particular car have 4 wires. What are these motors ? What are the wires for ? They are 2 white and 2 black wires.
I tried putting the 2 white wires to a battery and burned my finger, lol.
Any ideas what the wires are and how I'm supposed to connect them ?
Cheers.
edit: thinking about it, the motor might not be 5v but I just assumed so since it has a couple resistors and also the car runs on 6xAA batteries.
Can you post a clear photo of the motor with the 4 wires? See this Simple Image Guide
Also, what was the motor used for in the car that you have taken apart? Have you got a photo of the motor while it was in place in the car?

I will upload a picture once I get back home. Both motors have 4 wires. One was for steering, the other for forward/reverse. Unfortunately I don't have the picture of them connected to the original controller. The controller barely has anything written on it and seems oldschool as fuarg so I didn't take any pictures.
If you can use your multimeter to measure the resistance between different pairs of wires in the motors it may provide useful info.
