5v through relay to input

I want to be able to run 5v through an relay and be able to detect on an input pin if the relay is open or closed. Would it fry the arduino if I did that?

The Arduino inputs are 5V, so that shouldn't be a problem.

So if I connect the arduino 5v straight to an input there is no problem?

As long as you don't set the pin to LOW, there is no problem.

That's what a button would do, so yeah, no problem.

(Blah blah yeah yeah, only if you set up the button that way, not all buttons, then you should use a pulldown resistor, though you should have run input to gnd instead and use internal pullup, etc etc. Just ignore this, it's just for the pedantics who talk a lot and say little.)
