The custom board has six serial input high current drivers Allegro a6278
This is also my 1st attempt to post a picture, gentle comments appreciated.

Link works now. I've been eying those 6.5" SparkFun digits... How do they show up in daylight?
Just Ok I think smoked plexiglass would help.
