Hey all!
I want to display the number 9 on a single digit 7 segment display... permanently. Power on = number 9 displayed, as simple as that.
How can I achieve this with as few wires as possible? I'm new to electronics and when I look into 7 segment display tutorials there's lots of programming stuff that I don't think I need in this instance.

Wire all segments to turn on except e or d & e, your choice.
You need to tell us the display you have and give a link to the data sheet.

You will need a series resistor for each lit segment. If you try to do it with no resistors, or only one resistor, you will shorten the life of the display.
The value of these series resistors depends on the display, the supply voltage and the level of brightness you want.
