Does anyone know of one that is arduino controllable and doesn't cost a fortune? I'm not having much luck finding one at the moment.

6 channels is quite a lot for a digipot, most are single, dual, or quad. Never seen an 8 and can't search one. Does size/connection count matter that much for your project that you need to shave off one or two packages?
