8266 ... Trying to get started with Blynk

I have trying for a few days to get an 8266 module to do something useful with my Arduino Uno, but am coming up short (I can’t even get a file to compile)…

The ESP8266 is wired up to the Arduino (RX/TX of the 8266 on digital pins 0 and 1 of the Arduino), and responds to AT commands from inside the Arduino IDE. For example:

AT version: 8 2015 14:45:58)
SDK version:1.3.0
Ai-Thinker Technology Co.,Ltd.
Build: Sep 11 2015 11:48:04

I believe I should be using the ESP8266_Shield_HardSer example in the examples provided by the Blynk library. But when I do, I get compile errors. For example:

Arduino: 1.6.7 (Windows 10), Board: “Arduino/Genuino Uno”

    exit status 1
    Error compiling.

My guess is that my compiling problem comes from using defective library files (?)…but I can’t find alternate library files to use. Any suggestions on what I should be trying next? (please be as specific as possible)

I remember seeing something similar there. You can also create new topic. Which Arduino IDE version are you using
