A large percent of the difference are posts that are later deleted by the author. For example: asked a question, searched, found the answer, deleted the post.

(1011807 - 999079 )/ 999079 ~= 0.013 ==> 1.2% spam and other removed posts, less than in my mailbox (without spam filter).
