I'm currently working on cross platform build tool named PlatformIO. It has pre-built Atmel AVR GCC toolchain & avrdude for Mac, Linux 32/64 & Windows OS. It can be easy integrated to many IDEs. See article: Building and debugging Atmel AVR (Arduino-based) project using Eclipse IDE+PlatformIO.
