A couple of questions

So i have a couple of questions, and im hoping you guys can answer me.

First off, is there any kind of table as to what temperature nichrome wire is at different voltages, lenghts and thicknesses? (is that what its called? thicknesses?)

Second off, im making a speedometer, and i have two different ic's laying around i want to use. An atmega 328 and an esp8266 (not a breakout board just the chip with solder pads, antenna and an led) and i need some help deciding on which one to use. I dont have any requirements regarding features, so feel free to suggest different features for each solution.
Also i dont have any knowledge on how to program the different ic's so if anyone have any tutorials/advice, please share

Happy new year

The temperature will be dependent on the insulation around the wire...
If no insulation is present, it will depend on the gas that is surrounding the wire (speed of the fas, density of the gas. Conductivity of the gas, heat capacity of the gas.
You should be able to find specific resistance of this wire.
You need to choose wire diameter and wire length. That will give a certain resistance. Divide your power supply voltage to get the current. Multiply current with voltage to get power.
Depending on the power that you want to deliver as heat, you will need to adjust the amount of wire or the flow of gas along the wire...

Gauge, AWG or diameter.

The wire length measurement needs to be between the connections to your copper wire. Whether crimp or screw, those will act as heat sinks and not add much to the total heat generated.
