A "Doh!" NiMh cell moment ... a AA NiMh cell reads 1.5V after use ....

Howdy,

I'm powering a device from 8 AA NiMh cells. After only light use, the pack voltage dropped off to 7.5V. I noticed one of the cells was slightly warm and had a voltage of 1.5V (the rest were 1.3).

I'd never seen a cell read more than 1.4-something before.

I did some research into the physics behind this  The phenomenon is common to all battery cells and it called "accidentally installing one of the cells backwards."

I love batteries!

No Problem, NiMH can take a lot of abuse, but thanks for sharing
