A friend send me a “.ino” sketch, but when I try to open it on my computer it doesn’t open. I run the Arduino software, and search the “.ino” on my computer, but when I try to open it,I only can read this:

If someone knows why this happen and can help, I will be grateful

Hi, a .ino file is just a text file, so you may open it with a text editor (e.g. notepad), just to see if it is really what you think it should be. If it appears like a valid source to you, you may try and post it.

Just to be sure you don't have other problems, can you open another .ino file (say, the Blink example) in the Arduino IDE?

I cannot open .ino files from other people on my computer, but I think that is a windows/linux issue with the line breaks.

I have 4 from a friend on a mutual project. He uses Windows and I use Linux. He emailed me .ino files and I had no problem loading them up.

Quite a few editors will fix that up, for example Crimson Editor on Windows.

On linux you can use the dos2unix command. On debian/ubuntu it is part of the tofrodos package.
