A great feature, BUT ...,

There is a great option to hide your profile from the public, but what's the point if everyone can still see your profile in the user overview? Is that then only for the fact that one cannot see the contributions, to which one answered? Or has no one ever noticed this error? Everything else, so Likes given / taken, posts / topics created, visit days, etc. you can see everything, even if the profile is hidden.

I don't see your profile - neither directly, nor in the user overview.
May be you see the profile because it is YOUR profile?

When I search for my username in the incognito tab, it comes up even though I am logged out. Try that again. You can search for cloudDev in the upper right corner, maybe it will come.

Maybe a cookie effect. I was once surprised to get auto-logged in again after I logged out.
Leaving the browser helped.

BTW: why do you hide? Let users guess why you produce so many posts?

Making a profile hidden does make it harder for users to set that profile to “ignore.” Not impossible, just more work.

I even tried it in another browser - and it still shows up! Did you search for cloudDev in the search and nothing came up, or what? Can you send a screenshot of that please?
Thanks a lot!

At first, my profile was also public. But I somehow just decided not to make it public, because no one needs to know how many posts I post, who I like, etc. If anyone wants to know that, he should just write to me. Done. Do you have a problem with that?

Besides, no one should look at how many likes I have and thus judge whether I am a good helper or not. What is your attitude towards this?

I can only see some basic summary statistics, not a full overview of which posts were liked, which posts were created, etc. There are still other ways of getting to some of this data and of course, the whole forum can (and probably will) be mirrored and mined for all sorts of purposes.

Since we post on a forum that is essentially open, I would expect that everything we do here is open to the public. Having a public profile can be quite useful when trying to help someone, as it can give some impression of which type of response may resonate.

These are convincing arguments. But have you ever thought that people (like me) think that if you set their profile to not visible, this summary is also no longer visible? But you are right - there are many ways around this as well.

This was just a guess, one possible reason. I didn't check. And my curiosity was served by your first post in this topic. Have fun hopping along, to next level.

Why?

Nah it still works just fine.
Trust me !

I think you just need to take it easy
Even without seeing how many likes you have, anyone can get an idea of you by your posts.
You can't avoid it if you post on a public forum.

Yes, you are right. I just wanted to mention that even if you deactivate your public profile, you can still see how many likes you got FOR EXAMPLE. The same is of course with visit days and so on.

Often easier to wait and see what comes up.
Like a lot of ideas currently crawling out of the woodwork that were proposed years ago.
Time has a habit of fixing things.
