Just saw that Dennis Ritchie passed away.
Dennis, thanks for all you gave to us ..
Given his importance in the field of computing, his death should have received much more notice. 3 days, I think, before CNN reported it, while Camping's latest prediction for the rapture, and people buying the iPhone4S, got more media attention.
Of course, few people about how much Ritchie contributed to their latest gadget, any more than they know how much Tesla contributed to the power grid. It seems rather sad to me, even though I understand why.
Ritchie will always be much higher on my list of great people than Jobs. And I don't mean to slight Jobs either.
