A out of this world project, Maybe

Hello, a friend of mine programs in fortran and I saw a few articles for arduino forum of peple trying to use fortran with arduino. I eve saw a few videos on YouTube of people doing it with a older fortran compiler. But I was curious not just in program But in hardware How would more then One arduino connected together, Would it be in USB, SPI or ISC would be the best way If this can happen? I'm more curious notgoing to try it but just wondering If it can be done.

There are Fortran to C translators, so in principle, there is no problem getting something to run on Arduino.

My first paid programming job was using Fortran IV. The language then did not even support the classic if/then/else construct. You had to use goto to hop around conditional statements.

Anyway, one day a guy came to help us interface a compiler to our development to handle a simple language for manipulating graphical objects. He hated using Fortran because of the missing if/then/else construct so he simply lifted the parser out of his compiler development system and configured it to add the missing statements in a preprocessor. The source code he left us with was pure Fortran IV but obviously generated and containing, but commented out, the original code he wrote.

Using a totally inappropriate language to program an Arduino is novel in itself, but how do you even imagine this relates to interfacing more than one Arduino?

Why? :astonished:

My friend also told me his was on Fortran IV. He use to work for bell labs in New Jersey.

Because my Friend love old hardware. yes he can go back to the old 486 or P4 days and he still up to this day uses fortran. But I thought I would look into something like arduino and see If it is possible. It is more of a couriousity.
