A question about Arduino Components

Does Arduino manufacture any type of electrical components that are water-proof or can be water-proofed? The reason that I ask is I am currently in the "paper" phase of designing a subermsible with Arduino components.

The basic idea can be read about in the Project Guidance thread under BackYard Project.

Arduino is the name of the project. The official boards are manufactured by SmallProjects. Other manufacturers produce clones and extended functionality boards.

I think the question you are asking is: is there any waterproof Arduino-based hardware?

I would think that epoxy that they cover everything in when they don't want you to see it(or it's a bare die) would be waterproof. You'd have to cover the whole board in it though, and if you need to move something(or re-program), you'll probably have a hard time doing it. Some type of waterproof case with contacts on the outside might me possible.

There are various dry cases you could use (Otterbox, Pelican, etc.). You do need to make sure any sensors go through the box, which may mean finding a box meant for a phone and has a headset jack, or drilling a hole, and making the seal is water tight. One problem in general of putting electronics in a sealed box is heat buildup.
