A strange stepper motor

I bought this stepper motor because it was good looking and
very low cost. It came without a data sheet or any info.
There are 6 wires so I figured it was a uni-polar just as
I hoped. But, when I measured the resistances between the
wires I got confused. It seems that there are 5 coils of
about 15 ohms each and they are all connected to the yellow
wire. I measured about 30 ohms between any two of the other
wires. When I rotate the shaft, it feels like a stepper with
the 'hopping' from one index point to the next. It is a
Seagate 73192-193MCCMAT 52629-002DC. I can't find any
info through Google either. I hope someone here can help
me figure out how to drive it. What kind of motor is it?

That is a 5 phase stepper. Not very common in the hobby world, and the drivers are hard to find. But with a unipolar 5 phase it would not be hard to make one.

Thank you jremington for the answer and the link to info. That makes sense.

I had an old Emco F1 CNC machine. It used 5-phase steppers to get smother stepping. It must be 35 years old or older.
