Look at the pins on the extension board and the A4998 for the steppermotor.
It does not match.
(extension board) B1=A2 (on the A4498) and (extension board) A2=B1 (on the A4498).

How do You come to this conclusion? Comparing the white 4 pole connector with what?
Have You checked the internal board conductors?
It should be a match.
B2, B1, A1, A2 on the A4998
B2, A2, A1, B1 on the extension board
But it is not
No it's (extension board) 1B=A2 (on the A4498) and (extension board) 2A=B1 (on the A4498
They just used a number to specify the coil instead of a letter.
Yes it's confusing.
Pin outs should be the same according to LastMiniuteEngineers with the confounding of the A/B 1/2 mentioned by @jim-p

Title " A4498 extension board "
What is A4998 and A4498?
That explains it!
Type mismatch.
Thanks for the explanation. I have a drv8825 on a A4498 (all the otter look a likes are a typo from my side) extension board. The motor did what the motor wanted to do but not what I asked him to do.
