Absolute beginner, first Max/Msp patch help sought.

In the learning/exmples of arduino in communication there is an experiment called "graph"
I have searched for help high and low on the internet for assistance. The
Max/Msp part of the program only reopens as text rather than as an interface to use for the experiment

I'm using the latest Max/Msp runtime version. So have pasted the max patch, saved as txt and tried opening with max but alas!. This may have other question/replies within the forums but I cannot find it or really know how to look through the items posted to search. I've attached the patch as I understand it should be.

I'd really appreciate a bit of guidance. Thank you
Will

Dimmer Patch data pasted.txt (10.2 KB)

Please explain:
What exact "graph" project? TFTgraph?
What's Max/Msp?
Your patch looks like it should be a file (resource script), read by a display program?

Hi Doc, thanks for taking the time.
in the learning tab on this web page, the url above has a simple beginner experiment.
below the arduino script is a diagram and image of the graphing window im trying to produce.
thank you.

Thanks for the link. I don't know anything more about Max/MSP, try yourself to find a forum for that software.

Hi wtb,

Your textworks in Max 7, which is what I have.

  1. Copy the text into the clipboard
  2. Open Max. (I'm not sure if you can use the runtime, but you can use the
full Max without a license, you just can't save.)
  3. In Max do "File..."; "New from clipboard..."
  4. A window should appear with your patch.
  5. Click the lock icon in the lower-left corner

I haven't hooked it up to an arduino yet, but it looks like it should work.

Jimmy,

Thanks so much for responding to my question. I downloaded the full program and it instantly sorted out my problem. I really appreciate your assistance. I've attached the file and it has the functioning switches and graph window. The run-time Max version must run files but not compile them as you figured. I'd been trying to get this happening for weeks!

Thanks again Will

Here is the graph panel jpg image per my reply to Jimmy
