Hi, my AC servo has an incremental encoder. My understanding is there is no way the Arduino will know the starting position of encoder after power on. Would i need to buy a second Absolute encoder to know the position after power loss? if yes, is there a recommended model that works well with Arduino. Does it have to be NPN or something specific?
Hello
Post the datasheet.
it depends what you are trying to achieve.
Perhaps you can reset the position with a "home" sensor when power is restored.
If you always need to know the current position you need an absolute encoder.
I would like to achieve: Lets say i have a ruler attached to the rotor and no matter how many times i rotate it when power is off, when power comes on, it always goes back to 90 degrees.
Then use a sensor - optical magnetic whatever - to set a home position.
never played with those, do you know of any model i can buy for Arduino that comes to mind?
