Accelerometer as Wake-Up

Hi,
I would like to create a circuit with an accelerometer that will act as a “Wake-Up”.
My idea is to have an inexpensive accelerometer, maybe the MMA8452Q, that will be continually powered.
When there is movement sensed, the MMA8452Q will wake the Uno from sleep mode, the Uno will perform some functions, then go back to sleep.
I do not require any axis measurement data from the accelerometer - it will be used purely to sense any movement.
I have looked at the SparkFun “Wake-on-Shake”, but I would like a simpler/cheaper design that I can incorporate into my custom circuit.

Will I be able to wake-up the Uno using one of the interrupts?

Yes, if you use a pullup resistor on the port pin, and activate the appropriate interrupt.
