Accelerometer for automating indicator on Bikes

I'm planning to use a Accelerometer for linking it to arduino and then controlling the LED indicator i have built here >LED Indicator - YouTube ,What do you guys think will it be fine? or there should be a Direction sensor like a compass modules used instead of it.

i'm planning to have this Trplie Axix Accelerometer Module:

Comments Welcome! :*

Any one?

An accellerometer won't register a change when the bike is leaning in a turn.

A gyro might register a turn but only after it started.

That video removed all doubt. I don't know WTF you're trying to do!

Thanks Bill,A Gyro ok! Can you recall these systems being used in some bikes if you have seen any.

@ Go for Smoke ,Im trying to automate certain features like indicators on turn and if you guys have any ideas on utilising some other sensors you are most welcome!

An accerlometer like that will definetly tell you that you are turning, or simply not going perfectly straight at high speed
the hard part will be differentiating the two

OK its fine! but i think there are bikes in the real world out there who would be having this functionality?

Im trying to automate certain features like indicators on turn

I've been reading this thread, hoping for enlightenment, but, so far, I haven't been enlightened.

Let's start with this example. What kind of bike are we talking about? What "indicators" are you talking about? What exactly do you want to measure to turn whatever it is on or off?

The way I read this, you want the turn signals to start blinking when you lean into a turn. I'm sure that you are aware that the purpose of a turn signal is to indicate, in advance, that you want to make a turn, not to intermittently light up the road during a turn. As a result, I can't see how some lean angle measurement means anything with respect to turn signals.

So, please enlighten us (specifically, I mean me) as to what you are trying to do, not how you think you could/should do it.

Now if you made a thought controlled helmet that communicates with the bike to turn on the blinkers that'd be cool and useful

Yah you lean to start a turn but that's -way- after you should have signaled. And anyway you lean at times when you're not going to so much as to change lanes. "Automatic signals" seems like a good way to further confuse traffic and get you in a wreck.
This is right up there with wanting to put a HUD projector inside the helmet, right where in a wreck the hardware is right in place to do anything -but- pad your head. But hey, what the guy without any helmet told me was "I'm not planning to get in any wrecks.".

@Paul S , Thanks a lot for the devotion to my small thread that is really true! i was even thinking the same that one has to signal first to turn after one has to turn , I thought this because i was termed that Bajaj Pulsar 200cc comes with such as facility or wrecking system.

By the way thanks for all the help and support intact , it is your valuable comments that effect me in a positive way and shown a correct way to do things. Keep it up thanks!

and Happy Holidays!

I agree with the other comments, that activating turn signals automatically during a corner is pointless and probably harmful. Also very hard to do accurately, I would think, since ordinary tilt sensors would not be any help.

But perhaps a system to detect when you have completed a turn might be useful, to cancel the indicators for you. It's a similar problem, but you wouldn't need to be so fussy about differentiating between curves/turns, and I suspect it would be possible to get something working reasonably well.

You lean a bike to start or change a turn. For a time there a tilt sensor would pick that up.
