Accelerometer help gy-61

Hey guys, I'm having some trouble with my data that I'm receiving. When I run the code below, for example, my X value, I get the same result of 54 being repeated even when I change the position of the accelerometer. Please help! I am using a gy-61 btw.

void setup() {
  pinMode(A1, INPUT); // X pin
  Serial.begin(9600);

}

void loop() {
  analogRead(A1);
  Serial.println(A1);

}

Thank you

Well, YOU know what that means. Post a link so the rest of us know, too.

  analogRead(A1);

Read the data from the pin, but throw it away. You might as well remove this statement.

  Serial.println(A1);

Why are you printing the pin number? You KNOW what that is, and you KNOW that it won't change as you move the device around.

Is using analogRead() to read the data REALLY appropriate?

So what should I do instead?

So what should I do instead?

If you want to print the value read from the pin, don't you think it would be a good idea to do that?

   int val = analogRead(A1);
   Serial.print(val);

Of course, anonymous printing like that sucks, so you should be doing something like:

   int val = analogRead(A1);
   Serial.print("Useless and incorrect data: ");
   Serial.println(val);

Thanks
