Hi I was looking at different methods of doing a DIY circuit breaker, and I hope to get some feedback on the idea of using the Allegro ACS713 as the current sensing element in my design. I was drawn to the idea of using it when I was looking at ways to minimize the voltage loss due to the series, current-sensing element. I was thinking of connecting the output of the sensor to either a microcontroller (and write a brief section of code) or to a series of comparators to trip/break the protected circuit. The more I think of it, the more I like the comparator idea.
No, not at all. I am finishing a DIY DC power supply with (4) 380 watt computer (ATX) power supplies. Amongst other things it will give me a beefy 48 VDC supply. The mains (AC) supply will be fused.
So the current sensors I am asking about will be used in various projects (DC only) of <= 48vdc.
Hi so I am looking for advice or guidance on the suitability of using the ACS713 series of Hall Effect current sensors in my project plans.
I am building a DC power supply with (4) 380 watt computer power supplies to be able to have a range of available DC voltages for my LED projects, etc. I would like to incorporate the ACS713 series sensors to act as the sensing element of a circuit breaker (so that all DC outputs would have a circuit breaker monitoring the individual outputs).
Does anyone see any potential problems (no pun intended) with using these?
