Does anyone know a reputable source where I can purchase Active RFID tags? (not Passive)
I don't need lot's of 1000 I need like 5 to start with, and ordering directly from a supplier in Korea makes me a bit nervous anyways

what I need to be able to do is read an RFID tag from 6+feet
Access have been rolling out Dot since this time last year. I think they're looking for a large corporate order before they manufacture any. I've only ever seen their demo video, and they usually take a week or two before sending a reply designed to confuse.
Active is typically 433 MHz, do a google on casino RFID chips, they use long distance active embedded in their chips to thwart counterfeiters.

Active RFID tags at these frequencies don't emit anything. They act as absorbers.
These people do a long range reader in that range (about 5meters)
