Add microphone to Nano BLE 33?

Curious if anyone knows the answer to the following:

I bought a Sense board so I can experiment with Picovoice.AI voice control, but during that process I accidentally ordered 2x Nano BLE 33 not understanding the distinction. Are the microphone chips able to be soldered or added to the BLE 33 to add sound sensing capability? It looks like there are some empty pinouts on the BLE 33 compared to sense board.

Does anyone know what parts would be needed? I haven't even investigated yet, but will look into the pinout schematics etc. Just wondered if someone knew the answer already. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum.

You can find the part number and link to the datasheet in the Arduino store under TECH SPECS.

https://store.arduino.cc/arduino-nano-33-ble-sense

The microphone is from ST and is called MP34DT05.

Adding that microphone without destroying other parts of the board will require some soldering skills and the right equipment.

Maybe it is easier to get another Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense or a separate microphone module. You can then compare the two.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I don't think a hot air gun will work. I wonder if I just bridge the pads with wires? For the cost of ordering a couple and shipping them I agree it is just better to use them for something else and order some new Sense boards when I need it. Unless there are some other pin compatible microphones? anyway, you helped me answer my question, much appreciated. Mike

FYI, this is what I will be trying out:

That is a nice demo. Worked within seconds. Thanks for the link.
