I plugged my duemilanove into my xp (sp-3) and it doesn't recognize it. I tried the (add new hardware meth) no luck. Any suggestions. (background) My laptop was hacked a few months ago, just got it back up. Had this installed once but is quite reluctant so far.
I had the same problem with one of my boards, the other one installed without a problem.
If it comes up as a "Unknown Device" and you can get to the area where it searches the internet, and files on your computer, point it to this Directory:
C:\WINDOWS\INF
That's the folder for windows driver folders.. for some reason, my computer doesn't look there first, so I often have to hit the BACK button when it says it can't install the drivers, and direct it to that folder. And after that, it normally finds the drivers in that folder and installs them!
Best of luck!(Another thing to try is use a different USB port, I could only use 1 port to install it, after it was installed it worked in the USB port that wouldn't allow it.)
